Why Men in Their 20s Go Far Right

"Lee Dae-nam became the vanguard of fascism that threatened democracy, the Red Guard of Yoon Suk Yeol and the Power of the People, and the Huguenot. Students mocking the victims of the Daegu subway Ferry Sewol Itaewon disaster, classroom atmosphere that abhorred LGBTQ+ women and the disabled, environment at school where Ilbe was simply regarded as humor, and even the military and online communities that are an extension of all this. These have led to the creation of this group called Lee Dae-nam. Created in this way, Lee Dae-nam is opposing for opposition and hatred, unable to judge what his rights are threatened by or who is destroying the Republic of Korea. Eventually, they went beyond participating in anti-impeachment rallies to become part of the insurrection, leading to riots and storming courts. They stood here because they were angry at the power of Yoon Suk Yeol and public sentiment that privatized Lee Dae-nam and used it for their own benefit."

A man in his 20s (a cat news YouTuber) from Daegu criticized at the rally. As a male young man, he deplored the extreme right of the same generation. Young men and women show clear discrimination before, after the civil war, and in their attitude toward the early presidential election. It is only 2030 that men and women differ in all age groups. Why are the conflicting political attitudes of young men and women living in the same era different?

1) Who held Jjangdol?

The JoongAng Ilbo analyzed the population data that participated in the two rallies. In collaboration with KT, the Seoul Metropolitan Government releases daily living population data that estimates how many people were in each region by age and gender on an hourly basis. Around 445,900 people gathered in Yeouido to urge the impeachment motion at 3 p.m. on Dec. 14 last year.

Among them, women in their 20s accounted for the largest portion at 15.6 percent. It was followed by women in their 30s (11.5 percent). It means that one out of four (27.1 percent) participants was a woman in her 20s and 30s. She led the protest by singing K-pop with her light stick. On the other hand, men in their 20s accounted for 3.9 percent and men in their 30s accounted for only 6 percent.

On Jan. 15, when the arrest warrant for the Yoon Suk Yeol was executed, the number of men in their 20s and 30s holding Taegeukgi and the American flag, not light sticks, was noticeably increased in Hannam-dong, Seoul. Around 48,300 people gathered in Hannam-dong at 10 a.m. on the day. Men in their 20s (6.5 percent) and men in their 30s (10.7 percent), whose combined ratio of 17.2 percent) doubled from Yeouido's call for impeachment (9.9 percent). The incident also continued in the early morning of Jan. 19 at the Seoul Western District Court. According to the same data analysis on Jan. 18 at 11 p.m., right before the protesters stormed the court, men in their 20s and 30s recorded 6.1 percent and 9.4 percent, respectively.

Young men and women defend political parties that defend the civil war and want to reinvent the government and are attending rallies. Some Generation Z soldiers show when the 12.3 martial law army enters the National Assembly, while others have become rioters. I enjoy watching far-right YouTube, which is recommended by Yoon Suk Yeol. Along with regionalism, Protestant fundamentalism, and anti-communism among the elderly, misogyny in 2030 is the four major human foundations of far-right parties. After the 2021 Seoul mayoral election (exit survey, 72.5% of people in their 20s and the Busan mayoral by-election), the majority of young men, especially young men, have consistently supported the people's power. Even though the people's power has become far-right, it still supports it.

2) Lee Dae-nam, from the subject of transformation to the far-right warrior?

In our history, those in their 20s have always been the subject and bearer of change. It was the hope of a new history. Then, the man in his 20s changed dramatically. The men Hong Se-hwa lamented about eating, drinking and playing in "Your Name is an ignorant college student" (2003. Hankyoreh newspaper). Woo Seok-hoon and Park Kwon-il took to the streets to protest against the exploitation of generations and the winner-takes-all structure in "The 880,000 won generation" (2007), but they did not budge. They showed up at Hannam-dong and the Western District Court as they were wondering where they were. Why did the 2030 man do that?

Joanne Williams diagnosed the underborn, working mother, far-right, and neoliberal phenomena through EBS's The Great Class. She asked and answered why young people are becoming far-right.

"Men became angry and anxious as competition intensified. Middle-class jobs and my home became difficult to get. What was possible for my father's generation became difficult in the present generation. In my father's generation, men accounted for most of the good jobs. Not now.

Young men in the U.S. and Europe blame immigrants, while young men in Korea blame young women. "Angry always flows down." This is true. Instead of blaming the wealthy, big businesses, and the government for lowering the quality of work, they blame women. (Misogyny) About 80 percent of men in their 20s think that they are being discriminated against. Among the things that threaten masculinity, 'badly acting as the head of the family' accounts for the largest portion."

Supporting a family has long been a symbol of "masculinity" and "masculinity." Men are tasting the loss of this manhood. I think the resulting anger is leading to misogyny.

3) Masculinity, Loss or Change of Masculinity - From patriarchy to patriarchy

It is the patriarchal order that humanity has continued as it developed from a hunting society to an agricultural society. Here, men were the center of the family, the late ancestral men were the center of the universe, and the male offspring were the center of tomorrow. This was the self-reliance view. It is no exaggeration to say that humans have lived to give birth to and raise sons in Joseon society. It is to serve the deceased male ancestors well.

"History" is the history of men. It is the history of men, but not all men. This is the story of a man who became the ruler under the patriarchal system. However, dominated men are also immersed in their worldview. They manage the hierarchy of clans, promote unity and show dominance through their system and alignment. They manage the biggest events in the family such as rituals and distribute wealth. Men are the center of the world, and women are foreigners.

Masculinity supports the family and the family economy. On the other hand, women were divided into roles to manage the family. In the United States and Europe
