AlphaZero is the most famous model in the AI series from DeepMind, which is serious about conquering the game. This is AI that conquered Go and chess.

This is a very good AI, but it is not just a technology called artificial neural networks, or deep learning, but it is an AI created by combining a method called Monte Carlo Tree Search (MCTS).

MCTS is an algorithm that searches for a number of future cases, explicitly searching for various numbers by human-made algorithms. AlphaZero is known to search for about 400 cases.

However, the AI announced by DeepMind this time achieved the grand master level with a single output for the current state without exploring the number of cases with such an explicit algorithm.

When the model is large enough, strong chess skills can be obtained without explicit search, which means that time complexity can be replaced by spatial complexity. When the model is large enough, a single model can approximate complex algorithms.

In other words, a sufficiently large neural network can internalize inference/exploration capabilities similar to complex human-designed algorithms.
