S. Korean stocks fall

It can be seen that the Korean stock market is falling due to a combination of influences from semiconductors, investment sentiment, and the foreign exchange market.

Although TSMC reported good results the previous day, the decline in related stocks led the index to fall in the Korean stock market as semiconductor-related stocks were clearly weak in the wake of the downward revision of the semiconductor industry in the conference call. In fact, the decline in two stocks, Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, contributed to the decline of more than 20p.

In addition, Netflix's good performance and number of subscribers surged, but revenue per subscriber fell below expectations in most regions except the U.S., and expected sales fell nearly 5% after hours. This encouraged an after-hours decline in other large technology stocks, which also led to a decline in overall investor sentiment, as the U.S. Nasdaq futures fell 0.5% after-hours

On top of that, the weak won was also negative, with the dollar strengthening against other exchange rates with remarks weakening Fed members' expectations for a rate cut, with the dollar/won exchange rate rising more than 11 won to 1,384 won. Of course, Fed members were not much different from previous remarks, but it is noteworthy that the market was overreacting. This is a sharp contraction in the recent situation where the outlook for a decline in the individual investor sentiment index has only recently fallen 22%, exceeding the historical average of 31.0%. As such, it can be seen that the decline continues to be more sensitive to factors due to weak investor sentiment

On the other hand, some investment companies believe that supply and demand factors ahead of the option expiration date (Friday, June 19) also played a role in the recent slump in the U.S. stock market, so it is noteworthy that if supply and demand factors are resolved, expectations for a rebound may still proceed. In particular, Tesla should take into account that it is set to announce earnings next week from stocks with high expectations for improved performance such as Meta, MS, Alphabet, IBM and ServiceNow.04/19 Adding factors to the decline in the Korean stock market: Geopolitical risk

The Korean stock market was seen falling to the TSMC, Netflix, and dollar/won exchange rates. Meanwhile, there is a growing tendency to suddenly expand the decline over time, and preference for safe assets such as dollars, yen, US bonds, and gold is expanding

This is presumed to be due to geopolitical risks, such as highlighting Middle East issues.

Iran launched an attack on Israeli territory over the weekend after Israel's bombing of the Iranian consulate. Since then, Iran and the U.S. have been making efforts to stabilize the situation, but Israel has suspended the plan ahead of the Iranian territorial attack last Monday. Israel, however, continues to insist that it will launch attacks on Iran.

In addition, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard announced that Israel's attack facilities against Iran have been identified as Iran's nuclear facilities. It also warns that if Israel attacks Iran's nuclear facilities, it will attack Israel's nuclear facilities and Iran will pursue nuclear weapons development.

Meanwhile, the news that an Israeli missile hit an unidentified location in Iranian territory escalated Middle East risks, expanding the rise in the dollar, yen, government bonds and gold prices, and the fall in U.S. after-hours futures
