When I talk about my children's school life or education with acquaintances who have become parents of elementary, middle, and high school students, the topic that always comes up is children's games (problems). Nine out of ten, or ninety-nine out of a hundred, basically disapprove of children playing games, and some worry that they are "addicted" to games. The concerns of bickering with adolescent children over game time control are rather cute, and some acquaintances say that they get on bad terms with a child who is so into games that they are discouraged from getting home, so they come home late at night or early in the morning as much as possible so that they don't meet each other. In fact, most of the media try to drive most of the students' game problems to addiction, and even select neuroscientific research results to sternly warn of the "irreversible" side effects of games for students whose brains are not yet "relaxed," so this fear is exaggerated for most parents.
Of course, some students will spend most of their day concentrating on games like a derelict in the room, and it is certain that games that only look at the monitor from an early age will affect not only mental health but also physical development. In fact, however, it is not often too much of a problem if you are addicted to it that way. Most children spend about 6-7 o'clock when they come home from school, whether it be after-school classes or academies. I have about three hours to eat dinner at home and go to bed, and during that time, I do my overdue homework, watch Netflix, and watch YouTube. Then, when I have time, I play online games alone or with my friends for a hour or two. If you are in elementary and middle school with a "normal" life cycle, you don't have much time to become addicted to games for more than six hours a day. That would be a problem if you were immersed in games and played games more than six hours a day, but in fact, doing so is only a day or two, and continuing your life by sleeping 3-4 hours a day is too difficult for students who sleep in the morning.
Personally, I leave children's games to the children's autonomy. Rather, it makes them play a little too much, but first of all, they are trying to secure most game consoles on the market and get all the game titles they want. There are most systems at home that you can get, such as PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo, VR, and Steam Deck, and each system has titles that children want stacked up in the library. Interestingly, however, from what I have observed while letting them play games so far, children are not addicted to each game console. Rather, it would be more appropriate to get tired of it quickly. A game bought because it was fun to play by a YouTuber on YouTube is likely to be returned in less than a week or simply dusted up. The eldest child periodically plays online with close friends, whether it is LOL or Brawl Stars, but even that game rarely lasts more than an hour. I went one step further and told them to do it properly and go to the diamond if they are going to play LOL. The second child, who likes Minecraft, is shown a video of making a CPU with Minecraft, and if you're going to do it, ask him to try that hard. Recently, there was a game where you dive into the deep sea and fill in an unknown biological guide, so I asked him to try, but he seems to be working hard, but in fact, it's quite tiring to watch the colorful video of the deep sea for more than 30 minutes, so I don't think I've ever seen the second child play the same title for more than an hour.
In fact, a game is an act that consumes a lot of mental energy and concentration, so it is worth changing your physical strength to some extent in your 1s and 20s, but in your 30s, it is physically difficult and you are already full of all kinds of anguish and thoughts, making it difficult to establish the full pleasure and achievement of the game. Just looking at the attached data, enjoying games has declined sharply from the 30s, and it becomes very difficult to actually get something fun from the game even in the 40s. Gamers in their 40s play games not because they are playing games, but because they collect titles.
It is said that there is always a time for studying. At first glance, that is correct. It would have been even more so in a situation where the timeline for taking an important test at a certain point in time, going to an important school, and completing an important life quest has been established, as in the past. However, it is different now. Studying is probably something you have to do for the rest of your life, and if you do it, you should be able to enjoy it, if you don't interfere with what you have learned in the past, let alone help, the world changes so quickly. The standards that were used in the past are only for reference, and most of them have to go to museums, and success stories from someone in the past, especially through study or examination, are no different from science fiction novels, and the differences in the way you think and culture between people living in that era now widen more than the differences between citizens of other countries just a few years.
Studying is becoming one of the things you should enjoy while there are times when it comes to games and when you get older, the limit utility of games decreases too much. Of course, there will be a market for games for seniors that can be enjoyed, and senior gamers will be able to enjoy themselves well enough to enjoy, but the latest technology in the game will be designed and advanced to target the prompt response and concentration of gamers in their teens and 20s. Keep it while you can. If children enjoy it themselves, avoid playing weird games, and seem to be self-conscious about their addiction, let them continue to do so. However, they will take a path out of their control and take a path out of their control
