I read the strange report. The survey was conducted on the employment status of foreign workers in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Economic magazines such as the Seoul Economic Daily said 57.7 percent of foreign workers earn more than Koreans.

But if you look at the press release,
1. The difficulty of finding jobs for Koreans intensifies and the dependence on foreign workers increases. 92% of companies employ foreign workers.
2. Koreans are avoiding employment due to poor working conditions. This is a situation experienced by 90% of companies.
3. The average labor cost for foreigners is 2,638,000 won. Additional accommodation and food costs of 380,000 won are required.
4. The productivity of foreign workers remains at 50% in the beginning. After a year, they become almost the same as Koreans. The biggest obstacle is language and communication.
5. 89% of companies hope to maintain or expand the introduction of foreign workers. Only 2.3% of companies want to reduce it.
6. More than 70 percent of companies want to extend the period of foreign workers' stay.

So, to sum up the report, businesses are continuing to make more use of foreign workers, while they are less productive while paying more foreign workers. Something doesn't add up.

So I looked at this report, not the press release. The number 57.7 percent doesn't come out at all. It only says, " Assuming that the labor cost of domestic workers under the same conditions (work and annual leave) is 100, the labor cost level of foreign workers excluding room and board is 93.6 percent on average, lower than that of 2023."

Why do we have to include things that are not in this report in the press release and choose it as the title of the article? It's strange.
